How to download Instagram stories without logging in
Instagram stories expire after about 24 hours. If the account is public, you can watch the live tray in your browser and save each photo or video at the quality Instagram delivered — no password, no app install.
Steps
- Open the story viewer. Go to the Stories tool on IG Story Viewer.
- Paste a public username. Use a handle (with or without @) or an instagram.com profile URL. Private accounts will error on purpose.
- Watch, then download. Tap a thumbnail to view. Use Download for the original JPG or MP4. We do not add a watermark.
If the tray is empty
The account may have posted nothing today, the story already expired, or the owner saved it as a highlight. Check the Highlights tool on the same username before you assume nothing exists.
What we do not store
Signed download links expire. We do not keep a story archive. If you needed that file, save it while the tray is still live.

- Do I need an Instagram account?
- No. Public lookups do not use your Instagram login.
- Can I recover an expired story?
- Not from this site. We never stored it. If the owner pinned it, try Highlights.
